Join the Elite Circle Our Mission and Actions At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts. By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape. About the Works of Susanne Guzei-Taschner Susanne Guzei-Taschner’s practice centers on three-dimensional “object paintings” and freely suspended sculptural assemblages in which cords, stitched fabric fragments, and found materials—natural fibers, bark, driftwood, stones, even discarded packaging—play an integral role. These elements intertwine in playful yet deliberate material collages that invite a tactile, almost tangible experience. Strategic accents of acrylic paint both unify and highlight the disparate components, forging a cohesive visual dialogue across surface and space. At the heart of her work is the notion of connection: forging networks between disparate materials, between art and environment, and between viewer and natural world. The act of sewing becomes a ritual of healing—mending wounds and binding together separate parts to evoke nature’s generative forces. The stitched elements lend remarkable relief and sculptural presence, opening a uniquely feminine realm of lived experience. Through her pieces, Guzei-Taschner draws attention to ecological fragility while offering a ceremonial space for renewed, creative engagement with the natural world. Discover Limited Edition The State Bauhaus, now usually just Bauhaus, was an art school founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar in 1919. In terms of type and conception, it was something completely new at the time, as the Bauhaus represented an amalgamation of art and craft. Today, the historic Bauhaus represents the most influential educational institution in the field of architecture, art and design in the 20th century. The Bauhaus existed in parallel with and during the Weimar Republic from 1919 to 1933, and is today regarded worldwide as the home of the avant-garde of Classical Modernism in all fields of liberal and applied arts and architecture. The resonance of the Bauhaus continues to this day and significantly shapes the image of modernist movements. The Bauhaus came into being in Weimar through the merger of the Grand Ducal Saxon School of Art Weimar with the Grand Ducal Saxon School of Applied Arts Weimar, founded by Henry van de Velde in 1907. It became the direct precursor of the Bauhaus, which then began its work in van de Velde's school buildings. In 1925, it moved to Dessau - from 1926 in the Bauhaus Dessau building. In 1932, the Bauhaus had to move to Berlin; it was closed in 1933. The influence of the Bauhaus was so significant that colloquially the term Bauhaus is often equated with modernism in architecture and design. In this context, lay people often speak of the Bauhaus style, but it is problematic, both from the point of view of architectural science and art history, to view the developments at the Bauhaus in isolation and to use Bauhaus as a stylistic term (for example, as an architectural style or furniture style). The designs and works of the teachers and students at the Bauhaus are rather seen as part of longer-term and also transnational currents and are classified under terms such as Functionalism, Classic Modernism, New Objectivity, International Style or New Building. At the Bauhaus, the traditionally separate fields of fine arts, applied arts and performing arts were combined on the basis of the school's own concept, which in turn had a strong impact on painting, performing arts and music. *1848-1903 Europe Gauguin Paul 59 Artist ID: Gauguin was not appreciated until after his death and is known for his experimental use of colour and synthetic style, which differed from Impressionism. Towards the end of his life he spent ten years in French Polynesia. The paintings from this period show people or landscapes from this region. His work had an influence on the French avant-garde and many modern artists such as Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse. He is known for his relationship with Vincent and Theo van Gogh. Gauguin's art became popular after his death, partly due to the efforts of dealer Ambroise Vollard, who held exhibitions of his work late in his career and organized two important posthumous exhibitions in Paris. Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (* 7 June 1848 in Paris; † 8 May 1903 in Atuona on Hiva Oa, French Polynesia) was an influential French painter. Gauguin's Post-Impressionist work strongly influenced the Nabis and Symbolism; he was a co-founder of Synthetism and became a pioneer of Expressionism. He thus played an important role in the development of European painting. Gauguin was an important figure in the Symbolist movement as a painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and writer. His expression of the inherent meaning of subjects in his paintings under the influence of the Cloisonnist style paved the way for Primitivism and a return to pastoralism. He was also an influential proponent of wood engravings and woodcuts as an art form. Paul Gauguin returned to Tahiti in the fall of 1895 and was soon plagued by physical ailments and financial difficulties. Nevertheless, in 1896-1897 he painted a group of impressive canvases in a larger format than his usual works. He painted Why are you evil? No te aha oe riri? Why Are You Angry? on an earlier Tahitian composition, but changed the mood of the painting. Here the main figures are larger and detached from each other, their postures and characters more difficult to interpret. The questioning title encourages the viewer to search for some kind of narrative, but the paintings resist a definitive reading. Artist Statement I am a diligent artist who continuously seeks new challenges in drawing. My formal education includes a completed degree in Graphic and Design (HTL). I began studying art history, but unfortunately, due to the pandemic, it was not feasible to continue. My favorite medium is ink on paper, and my subjects often revolve around nature and humanity. The human heart is my preferred motif; it evokes a range of deep thoughts and emotions in the viewer. Balancing the aesthetics while eliciting depth in my artwork is often a delicate act. My inspirations are my own emotions, which I strive to capture on paper, providing me with new strength and inner peace. My work is aimed at all art enthusiasts who wish to delve into my emotional world. Influences | Paul Flora and Frida Kahlo Life Motto | "Strive to achieve your goals!" Objectives | My goal is to spread my art worldwide and to become well-known as an artist beyond national borders. Discover Limited Edition Futurism (Italian: Futurismo) was an artistic and social movement that originated in Italy in the early 20th century and also developed in Russia. It emphasized dynamism, speed, technology, youth, violence, and objects such as the car, the airplane, and the industrial city. Its key figures were the Italians Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carrà, Fortunato Depero, Gino Severini, Giacomo Balla, and Luigi Russolo. It glorified modernity and aimed to liberate Italy from the weight of its past. Important Futurist works included Marinetti's Manifesto of Futurism, Boccioni's sculpture Unique Forms of Continuity in Space, Balla's painting Abstract Speed + Sound, and Russolo's The Art of Noises. Although it was largely an Italian phenomenon, there were parallel movements in Russia, where some Russian Futurists would later go on to found groups of their own; other countries either had a few Futurists or had movements inspired by Futurism. The Futurists practiced in every medium of art, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, urban design, theatre, film, fashion, textiles, literature, music, architecture, and even cooking. To some extent Futurism influenced the art movements Art Deco, Constructivism, Surrealism, and Dada, and to a greater degree Precisionism, Rayonism, and Vorticism. Artist Statement My artworks are designed to enchant with their vivid colors, hidden symbols, and emit vibrations of positive energy. I find inspiration in Eastern philosophy and its holistic approach, distinguishing my work from traditional Western painting. Originally trained as a classical painter, I now focus on exploring metaphysical laws and the creation of reality. My purpose is to direct the viewer’s soul toward these profound principles. My paintings are developed in collections that might seem disparate at first glance but ultimately connect as elements of a puzzle. They are immediately recognizable due to their distinctive energy and my use of original techniques. These include a specific structure that creates the impasto effect and the employment of old master techniques such as gilding and mixing pigments, enhancing my ability to manipulate light and shadows. This unique approach not only defines my artistic identity but also deepens the viewer's engagement with my work. Discover Limited Edition The Environment is a term borrowed from American English in the late 1950s for artistic works that deal with the relationship between object and environment. The environment can become part of the artwork. The intellectual foundations for overcoming the separation between art and life, which artists repeatedly strived for in the 20th century, were already laid in Dadaism and Surrealism. In his Dadaist Manifesto, Richard Huelsenbeck formulated in 1918: "Life appears as a simultaneous jumble of sounds, colours and mental rhythms, which [...] is taken over in its entire brutal reality." In parallel, Marcel Duchamp exhibited a urinal as a work of art in New York in 1917, the Fountain. An industrially manufactured object, the ready-made, was declared a work of art, see also object art. The term environment appeared in the USA at the end of the 1950s in the context of the artists of Pop Art and Happenings. George Segal called his white plaster figures in a suggested environment "environmental sculptures". Claes Oldenburg became known for his oversized replicas of edibles from "the store". Edward Kienholz and Duane Hanson provoke through the hyperrealism of their figures, whereby Kienholz creates isolated walk-in scenes as environments, while Hanson places human figures (e.g. Woman with Shopping Trolley, 1970), isolated from the original environment, abruptly in the spatial situation of a museum or gallery. Between briefings and screens, Gerti Landwehr began her career as a graphic designer - precise, ambitious, and guided by a clear personal vision. At first, her ideas collided with the resistance of a stubborn superior; yet her designs convinced clients and colleagues so convincingly that perceptions of her talent began to shift. Words were never her territory; images were. At night, she visualized what could not be put into words - and let her work speak for itself. From this experience emerged a distinct artistic stance: portraits as spaces of resonance for the unsayable. Gerti concentrates everything on the gaze - eyes that seek closeness rather than pose, that make silent signals visible and enable genuine encounter. When a work becomes too smooth, she deliberately paints over it - out of clarity, not doubt. This is how faces come into being that do not merely depict, but respond. “I paint gazes that speak back.” Why does this matter? Because a society becomes impoverished when we no longer truly look at one another. Amid speed, sensory overload, and rapid judgment, her painting recalls what it means to be human: to perceive, to respond, to allow oneself to be touched. Thus, graphic routine transforms into an independent artistic voice - and images become a conversation that leads us back to authentic connection. Today, Gerti Landwehr lives and works as an independent artist in Austria. For several years, her works have been successfully presented in galleries, in solo exhibitions, and at art fairs in Austria and abroad - now also for the first time in an auction house. Sales and demand continue to develop positively; collectors in particular value the consistency of her portrait-based position. The response confirms that the imaginary possesses a real power - one that touches people and transforms encounters, beyond the sensory overload of everyday life. Artist Statement: Ethics of the Gaze | Art as Resonance Between People I paint portraits not as representations, but as spaces of resonance. At the center is the gaze - that quiet, nonverbal gesture through which relationships are shaped. A gaze can offer closeness or mark a boundary, open trust or signal restraint. My painting makes these subtle signals visible and invites viewers to read them more consciously - within the image as in life. In this way, art becomes a resonance between people once again. Formally, my work moves between figuration and abstraction. Bold color combinations, decisive brushstrokes, and transparent layers create a vibrating field in which emotions appear as if in real time. In the friction between strength and delicacy, faces emerge that do not fix or judge, but invite response - dialogue rather than verdict. My paintings are a counterproposal to the fleeting flood of images. They slow down the gaze and sharpen perception for nuance: a minimal tension of the eyelid, a tilt of the head, a glint of light in the eye. Such details are not decoration - they determine whether we open ourselves or keep our distance. I understand painting as an ethics of the gaze. Each work is an invitation to see attentively and empathetically: to perceive boundaries, allow presence, and reflect on one’s own stance. When we relearn this wordless language, encounters change - privately and publicly alike. That is why I paint: to open spaces in which seeing becomes encounter, and our shared humanity gains tangible depth. *1575-1651 Europe van Dyck Floris Claesz 25 Artist ID: Only a relatively small œuvre is known of Floris van Dyck (13 paintings and one work in watercolour). He signed his paintings only with the monogram "FVD", occasionally joined with an "H" (Harlemensis), and followed by "Fecit". His paintings are counted among the banquet pieces (also: Banketjes or Ontbijtjes). However, since banketje or ontbijtje refers to almost all paintings depicting a table laden with food and crockery, a more differentiated designation for the paintings such as those created by Dyck and Gillis would be Schautafel. It seems that Floris van Dyck was influenced by the Flemish painters Clara Peeters and Osias Beert. Together with his fellow painter Nicolaes Gillis, Floris van Dyck established the banquet pieces (Schautafeln) in the city of Haarlem as an independent subject. Compared to Nicolaes Gillis, Floris van Dyck has a greater significance and can thus be said to have "the strongest stylistic force". The paintings of Floris van Dyck and Nicolaes Gillis had a strong influence on the following generation of painters. They paved the way for a new type of banquet piece - Het Monochrome Banketje. Floris van Dyck, also Floris van Dijck or Floris Claesz. van Dyck (* c. 1575 in Delft; † before April 1651 in Haarlem) was a Dutch still life painter of the Golden Age. His only known relative is his cousin, the painter and draughtsman Pieter Cornelisz. van Dyck. He first lived in Haarlem, where he became engaged in 1604 and later married for the first time. Nothing is known about his education. However, it is considered certain that he undertook a trip to Rome and stayed there around 1600. In 1606 he was already back in the Netherlands, in the city of Haarlem. In 1610 he became a member of the Guild of St. Luke in Haarlem and in 1637 its head. Floris van Dyck married for the second time in October 1627. After this marriage to Cornelia Jansdr. Vlasmans, who brought her fortune into the marriage, he no longer seemed to depend on his profession as a painter and thus on a self-generated income. He died shortly before April in 1651. - 42, West
*1738-1820 Europe West Benjamin 42 Artist ID: King George III commissioned West to paint portraits of members of the royal family. For example, he painted Princes Edward and William and the elder children of William Duke of Gloucester, brother of King George III, Prince William, with his elder sister, Princess Sophia of Gloucester. The King also had himself painted twice by West. In 1772 King George appointed West as History Painter to the Court with an annual salary of £1000. In 1791 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. From 1791 until his death he was overseer of the royal paintings. West is known for his large-scale historical paintings, with expressive figures, colours and a compositional scheme that helps the viewer identify the scene depicted. West called this "epic representation". Benjamin West, PRA FRSA (* 10 October 1738 in Springfield, Province of Pennsylvania; † 11 March 1820 in London) was one of the first internationally important American painters. He received his first training in his homeland and earned his living with portrait paintings. With financial support from William Smith and William Allen, who was the richest man in Philadelphia, West travelled to Italy in 1760 and lived mainly in Rome. He copied the paintings of the great masters Titian and Raphael. Here he met Raphael Mengs, Johann Joachim Winckelmann and Gavin Hamilton. In 1763 he moved to London. In 1768 he participated in the foundation of the Royal Academy of Arts. In 1792, the first president of the Academy, Joshua Reynolds, died. Benjamin West succeeded him and remained president of the Royal Academy of Arts until the end of his life (1820). West produced classicist history paintings that are among the earliest of their kind in English art history. His painting The Death of General James Wolfe at Quebec (1770), exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1771, made him internationally famous. According to an anecdote, West asked the president of the Academy, Sir Joshua Reynolds, for advice. Reynolds had advised a depiction in ancient garb and pose, which West rejected: "The event which I wish to record in my picture took place on 13 September 1759, in a part of the world unknown to the Greeks and Romans, and at a time when there were neither any of those nations nor heroes in ancient garb on this earth.... I desire to give an accurate account of the date, the place, and the parties concerned in this event." Despite the depiction from a strictly contemporary point of view, the composition of the picture remained conventionally rooted in the Christian tradition of the depiction of the Pieta or the Descent from the Cross. The exotic reference was created by an Indian depiction. The success was perhaps overwhelming for this very reason. The stream of visitors to the Royal Academie did not stop. An engraving based on the painting was sold in large numbers in a very short time. Benjamin Best created the painting "Christ with a Child in Heaven" for Johann Caspar Lavater. The contact with Lavater had come about through the Swiss preacher Johann Heinrich Sulger, who lived in London. Despite an enthusiastic reception, West only delivered a few smaller works or engravings to Lavater. There are several altarpieces by him in the court chapel at Windsor. He produced the cartoons for the window paintings, which Forest executed from 1792 to 1796. For the audience chambers of the castle he created six large paintings by order of King George III, the subjects of which are taken from the history of King Edward III, now united with many other pictures of West in a hall at Hampton Court. An altarpiece in the Hospital Church at Greenwich by West depicts St Paul on Melite hurling the viper from him. Many American artists studied with him in London, including Charles Willson Peale, Rembrandt Peale, Gilbert Stuart, John Trumbull, Thomas Sully and Samuel Morse. In 1803 West was admitted as an expatriate member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts. Benjamin West died at his home in Newman Street, London, on 11 March 1820. He was buried in St Paul's Cathedral (painter's corner) King George III commissioned West to paint portraits of members of the royal family.

Roy Lichtenstein became a leading figure in the new art movement during the 1960s - along with Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and James Rosenquist and among others. His work defined the premise of pop art through parody. Inspired by the comic strip, Lichtenstein produced precise compositions that documented while they parodied, often in a tongue-in-cheek manner. His work was influenced by popular advertising and the comic book style. His artwork was considered to be "disruptive". He described pop art as "not 'American' painting but actually industrial painting". His paintings were exhibited at the Leo Castelli Gallery in New York City. Lichtenstein extended his source material to art history, including the work of Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso, and experimented with three-dimensional works. During a trip to Los Angeles in 1978, Lichtenstein became fascinated by lawyer Robert Gore Rifkind’s collection of German Expressionist prints and illustrated books, and in 1980 began exploring the Expressionist stylistic vocabulary in paintings such as The White Tree, which evokes the lyricism of Der Blaue Reiter landscapes, and Expressionist Head that mimics Erich Heckel’s 1919 woodcut, Portrait of a Man. Lichtenstein also created a number of small pencil drawings that he used as templates for woodcuts, a medium favoured by Emile Nolde and Max Pechstein among other Expressionist artists. The culmination of this exploration was the Expressionist Woodcut Series, 1980. This set of seven woodcuts includes motifs that echo the Expressionist masterpieces, such as Dr. Waldmann, which recalls Otto Dix’s Dr. Mayer-Hermann, 1926, and Reclining Nude: an addition to Lichtenstein’s repertoire of iconography that had hitherto excluded nude figures. Lichtenstein’s use of appropriated imagery has influenced artists such as Richard Prince, Jeff Koons and Raymond Pettibon.
