Biography
From the Big City to Creative Freedom: The Art of a Bold Boundary-Crosser Between Reality and Fantasy
Sabina Bockemühl was born in 1966 in Solingen and immersed herself in the world of art from an early age, encouraged by her father, the versatile artist Hans Jürgen Richartz. After finishing high school, she pursued her passion at the art academies in Düsseldorf, Trier, Münster, and Barcelona. A formative chapter in her career was studying under renowned artists such as Prof. Markus Lüpertz and Ricci von Riggenbach, who left a lasting mark on her style in both free painting and portraiture. Building on these influences—and further training in urban art and trompe-l’œil painting—she laid the foundation for her uniquely independent approach.
In her work, Bockemühl combines Neo-Expressionism, Abstract Pop Realism, and Urban Street Art into a singular visual language. Her art stands out through the interplay of two- and three-dimensional structures, rendered in vibrant colors and sculptural compositions that capture the eye. For Sabina, art is a means to reveal the essential and celebrate the uniqueness of each individual.
Whether interpreting landscapes or creating her famed character portraits, her pieces invite viewers to rediscover the familiar and behold the beauty of the unexpected. Today, she lives and works in the picturesque town of Murnau am Staffelsee, and also draws inspiration from her studio in Mallorca. Her work has earned recognition both nationally and internationally, with exhibitions in prestigious museums and galleries and sales figures that attest to her global appeal. For Sabina Bockemühl, art is a vital expression of her connection to nature and humanity—one that touches and inspires her audience.
In late 2024 and into 2025, Sabina unveiled her “Souls of Nature” series, a profound exploration of our elemental ties to the natural world. Through multi-layered textures and figures that meet the viewer’s gaze, these new works invite a deeper reflection on identity, belonging, and the philosophical resonance of nature as both mirror and muse.

Our Mission and Actions
At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.
By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.

Artist Statement
In the Breath of Time – Images of Connectedness
“My painting arises where the forces of creation and transience touch. I seek those tipping points in which people, urban spaces, landscapes, or the quiet presence of an animal reveal more than their form: a delicate balance where both becoming and passing can be felt at once. Each motif is part of a living cycle; it speaks of connectedness—of the traces we leave in the world, and of the world leaving its traces within us.
From color, light, and atmosphere emerge pictorial spaces that point beyond the visible. Transparent layers, densities, and intentionally placed voids open spaces of resonance: rather than explaining, they invite viewers to perceive anew their relationship to nature and to their own nature. In this way, the fragile balance between human and environment is not asserted but experienced—as a quiet rhythm that slows the gaze, sharpens the senses, and fosters connection.
In my work, the human being does not stand outside the landscape but within its fabric: as creator and as fellow creature. Where urban structures meet organic forms, where a silhouette flickers in the wind, or where a gaze holds time within itself, it becomes clear that our creativity and responsibility are inseparable. Here, beauty does not appear as surface but as attitude: a mindful cherishing of the living, in the knowledge of its transience.
I understand my art as an invitation to cross boundaries—between inside and outside, culture and nature, past and possibility. If my paintings touch people worldwide, encouraging them to rediscover their connectedness to themselves and to nature, and to align their actions with greater awareness, then their purpose is fulfilled: from perception arises relationship, from relationship responsibility. In this sense I paint: so that the world that shapes us may be equally cared for and enlivened by us.”
