“Spot” by Boston Dynamics
The painting shows an earlier working version of Boston Dynamics’ “Spot.” It combines this robot with the mythological figure of Saint Margaret, who is traditionally depicted overcoming a dragon or lindworm as a symbol of conversion and the triumph over former gods. Saint Margaret is also revered as the patron saint of pregnant women, women in childbirth, and midwives. In this work, she not only conquers the dragon but also subdues the robot, making both nature and technology subject to her power.
