“Violin of Life”
Just as a violin responds to touch, so Violin of Life responds to the touch of the soul – inspired by Carl Gustav Jung’s path to self-realization (individuation). This sculpture is not a musical instrument in the classical sense, but an inner echo – an object that makes states of being audible rather than melodies.
The entire form is crafted from stainless steel – hard, cold, yet pliable. Like the human psyche undergoing self-realization, the material is shaped, bent, and fused by heat. Each curve represents a psychic turn; each weld seam symbolizes the meeting of opposites: Ego and Shadow, Conscious and Unconscious, Anima and Animus.
The weld seams were deliberately left visible – made of stainless wire, they stand like scars that do not disfigure but testify. They mark an alchemical process of integration – the inner work Jung described as the path to wholeness.
The form only faintly recalls a classical string instrument. It is perforated, open, full of voids – for here the sculpture “resonates.” Not with sound in the usual sense, but as a space of resonance between material and viewer. Between elegance and hardness, calm and tension.
Violin of Life needs no musician. It plays in the inner spaces – where the unspoken is set into vibration.
