Discover Limited Edition Land Art (also commonly used in German) is a visual art movement that emerged in the USA at the end of the 1960s and was first described as "Earth Works" in 1968 at an exhibition in Virginia Dwan's gallery in New York. The term "Land Art", which is particularly common in Germany, was coined in 1969 by the German filmmaker and television gallerist Gerry Schum in his first television exhibition Land Art. The defining characteristic of Land Art is the creative, preferably minimalist and often radical intervention in a landscape to create a three-dimensional, always site-specific and often ephemeral work of art that changes the immediate experience of landscape and environment and provokes an intensified perception of space. In doing so, Land Art artists do not focus on a specific scale or method. Rather, they work with spaces on different scales, often with found natural materials but also with artificial materials such as concrete if the artistic design requires it. Land art emerged in the 1960s in the USA and, together with minimalism, was one of the most radical artistic concepts of the time. In contrast to minimalism, which was concerned with objectivity and was mainly found in the context of galleries and museums, Land Art was characterised by a romantic, but also by an explicitly socio-critical component. Discover Limited Edition Appropriation art is a form of expression in contemporary artistic creation. It is usually classified as conceptual art. In a narrower sense, Appropriation Art is when artists consciously and strategically copy the works of other artists, whereby the act of copying and the result itself are to be understood as art (otherwise one speaks of plagiarism or forgery). Strategies include "borrowing, stealing, appropriating, inheriting, assimilating.... Being influenced, inspired, dependent, hunted, obsessed, quoting, rewriting, revising, redesigning.... Revision, re-evaluation, variation, version, interpretation, imitation, approximation, improvisation, supplement, accretion, prequel... Pastiche, paraphrase, parody, piracy, forgery, homage, mimicry, travesty, shan-zhai, echo, allusion, intertextuality and karaoke." In a broader sense, Appropriation Art can be any art that deals with found aesthetic material, e.g. advertising photography, press photography, archival images, films, videos, etc. These can be exact, detailed copies; however, manipulations of the size, colour, material and medium of the original are also often made in the copy. This appropriation in Appropriation Art can be done with critical intent or as homage. Appropriation was introduced through the Pictures exhibition curated by Douglas Crimp at New York's Artists Space in the autumn of 1977. The early artists selected were Sherrie Levine, Jack Goldstein, Phillip Smith, Troy Brauntuch and Robert Longo. Cindy Sherman had had a solo show at Artists Space the year before; she was mentioned in Douglas Crimp's revised version of the catalogue text that appeared in the Marxist art magazine October in 1979. The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles held major retrospectives of the Pictures Generation in 1989, and in 2009 the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York showed the early work of thirty artists from the 1970s New York art scene in the exhibition The Pictures Generation, 1974-1984, curated by Douglas Eklund. This Pictures Generation includes Louise Lawler, Barbara Kruger, Richard Prince, Sarah Charlesworth, and from the art scene in Buffalo (New York State) came Robert Longo, Cindy Sherman, Nancy Dwyer, Charles Clough and Michel Zwack. The most important "hotbed" of the movement was John Baldessari's seminar at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, where David Salle, Jack Goldstein, James Welling, Matt Mullican, Barbara Bloom, Ross Bleckner and Eric Fischl had studied. *1893-1983 North America Miro Joan 80 Artist ID: Building on Catalan folk art, his early works show influences from Cubism and Fauvism. From the beginning to the mid-1920s, the artist made the fundamental change in style in Paris, influenced by the prevailing art movements of Dadaism and Surrealism, which led him away from objectivity. As a representative of classical modernism, Miró is one of the most popular artists of the 20th century with his imaginative pictorial motifs. His magical symbols for the moon, stars, birds, eyes and women are among the most famous elements of his art. The disturbing late work, such as the Toiles brûlées (Burned Canvases) series, was staged destruction, a protest against the commercialization of art and an expression of his demand to “murder painting”. In the public space, for example, his ceramic walls adorn the UNESCO building in Paris and the Wilhelm Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen am Rhein; Monumental sculptures are set up in squares in Barcelona and Chicago, among others. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts. By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape. Discover Limited Edition Pittura metafisica (Metaphysical Painting) is an Italian movement in painting that developed from around 1910 and lasted until the mid-1920s. The name comes from metaphysics, which means the doctrine of the reasons and connections of being. In 1917, Giorgio de Chirico, his brother Alberto Savinio and the Futurist Carlo Carrà founded the Scuola metafisica in Ferrara. The characteristic of Pittura metafisica is that the supersensible, that which can only be recognised in acts of thought, and the spiritual, the transcendent, which lies beyond the world of the senses, are elevated to a pictorial system. The sequences of pictorial contents often lie beyond what can be experienced by the senses and a second mysterious reality is hidden behind the visible things. The painting of the Pittura metafisica is presented in the form of almost stage-like, mostly deserted places. Altered proportions, unrealistic colouring and the incorrect reproduction of light and shadow, as well as the use of several vanishing points characterise this genre. Due to the lack of aerial perspective, many paintings appear to be in a vacuum. In terms of content, the frequently depicted revaluation of existing values creates a connection to the contradictory. Discover Limited Edition The term surrealism comes from the French and is composed of the words sur (pronounced: sür = over) and réalisme (= reality, realism). It therefore literally means: above reality. The goal of the surrealists was to create a superior reality that goes beyond what we see and also includes the unconscious and dreamlike. They wanted to depict in their artworks not only what we see and know, but also dreams, visions, the unreal and the fantastic. In doing so, they let themselves be guided by spontaneous feelings and moods. In order to suspend the laws of logic and reason, the surrealists invented the technique of spontaneous painting or writing (automatism). Here, the artist only follows his spontaneous inspiration when he puts words or colours on paper, so that the unconscious can express itself without control by the mind. Associations, images and thoughts that arise during the work should flow unfiltered into the artwork. The surrealists also ventured into new pictorial forms and techniques. For example, the painter Max Ernst developed the techniques of frottage and grattage. In frottage, paper is placed on a structured surface such as wood. The grain is then rubbed onto the paper with a soft pencil. In grattage, the artist applies the paint in several layers on top of each other and then scrapes it off the canvas again, creating new colour patterns. Collage, which Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso developed in 1911/12, was also popular. In this process, different materials such as scraps of paper, pieces of wallpaper, fabric, wood or wire are processed and glued together to form a picture. Surrealism was founded in France by a group of artists that included French writers such as André Breton, Paul Eluard and Louis Aragon as well as the German painter Max Ernst. Breton published the Manifesto of Surrealism in 1924, in which he introduced the new movement in art. A first exhibition of Surrealist art took place in Paris in 1925. Among the artists represented there were Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee and Man Ray, who became famous as a photographer. Surrealist painting is divided into two styles: Painters like Salvador Dalí or René Magritte depicted unrelated things and forms in a naturalistic setting. Others, such as Joan Miró, painted in a completely abstract manner. Surrealism was a worldwide movement, surrealist artist groups formed in many European countries. After the Second World War, painters like Dalí and Max Ernst also made surrealism known in America. Discover Limited Edition Expressionism (from Latin expressio 'expression') is a style in art. Its beginnings and precursors can be found in the late 19th century. Like Impressionism, Symbolism and Fauvism, Expressionism is a movement against the tendencies of Naturalism. In Expressionism, the expressive level predominates over the aesthetic, appellative and objective level. The artist wants to present his experience to the viewer. Expressionism is a style of fine art that emerged as an artistic movement in the early 20th century in the German-speaking world, which emerged for the first time in painting and graphic art through this explicit naming. As with Fauvism in France, Expressionism opposed the artistic forms of Impressionism. In Expressionist paintings, a free use of colour and form is evident in the frequent use of unmixed colours and, in German-speaking countries, the use of woodcut-like forms. Further characteristics are a reduction of motifs to striking formal elements of the pictorial objects and a dissolution of traditional perspective. The artists of this epoch were not concerned with the realistic reproduction of impressions and beautiful forms; in contrast to the Impressionist painters, the Expressionists expressed their subjective emotions. They passed on directly and spontaneously a motif interpreted "through-feelings". Very soon after the First World War and under its influence on the artists, Expressionism was partly overlaid and partly replaced by new styles (e.g. Constructivism, New Objectivity, Art Informel, in postmodernism by the Neue Wilde and Photorealism) and partly questioned by Dadaism. Isolation sharpened my awareness of nature. I began to pay more attention to mountains, skies, and atmospheres. Once I have painted a mountain, I experience it differently in real life. I perceive its nuances more consciously, discover tones that often remain unnoticed, and encounter colours no one would expect in nature. My landscape works aim to capture ephemeral mountain moments such as the last rays of sun on a peak, changing skies at dusk, clouds drifting around rugged rock faces. I spend much of my time chasing these scenes and immortalising them on canvas. Food Painting In addition to landscapes, I have developed a fascination for food painting. I transform ordinary, everyday motifs such as fried eggs or bacon into an artwork. Their unexpected visual richness, their colours, textures, structures captivate me, as well as the way smooth, wet, or greasy surfaces interact with light. These subtle effects challenge me to translate them painterly and reveal the beauty hidden in the ordinary. Artistic Intent Whether mountains or food, my goal is the same: to remind the viewers about the beauty in the ordinary and to open their eyes to their surroundings. We live in an environment many people can only dream of, yet we often lose the ability to truly see it. Moments that transform the mountains into glowing atmospheres pass by unnoticed. Similarly, everyday objects contain visual worlds we rarely pay attention to because we’re busy rushing through our lives, ticking off our To Do’s. Through my work, I hope to shift focus toward the positive. In today’s global climate, I believe it is more important than ever to recognise small joys and give them the attention they deserve. • 48, Gericault

*1791-1824 Europe Gericault Theodore 48 Artist ID: Essential motifs of his paintings are horses, riding scenes, landscapes and portraits of simple people. Géricault became famous for his painting Le Radeau de la Méduse (The Raft of the Medusa), which was offered and exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1819 under the innocuous title Scene of a Shipwreck. This evoked the memory of a scandalous incident in 1816 in which 137 sailors were killed and which led to the immediate dismissal of the minister responsible for the navy and 200 naval officers. The painting also suggests a transition to realism on the part of the artist, for he made numerous studies of the sick, injured and corpses in Parisian hospitals for the painting. In this respect, although his painting style is still romantic, the physicality of the sitters is already of realistic accuracy. Jean-Louis André Théodore Géricault (* September 26, 1791 in Rouen, France; † January 26, 1824 in Paris) was a French painter, sculptor, draftsman and lithographer. He is considered one of the most important representatives of Romanticism in French painting. Théodore was born in Rouen, the son of the lawyer and tobacco manufacturer Georges-Nicolas Géricault (1743-1826) and his wife Louise-Jeanne-Marie Caruel (1753-1808). Around 1796 the family moved to Paris. Géricault, who died young as a result of a riding accident, is buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris. The copper plate on his grave shows the painting The Raft of the Medusa (small format) in relief. On the grave plinth is a sculpture showing Géricault (lying down) with a colour palette and brush. Essential motifs of his paintings are horses, riding scenes, landscapes and portraits of simple people.

I create not merely for profession but for pleasure, drawing upon the vibrant impressions of life's moments, both seen and felt. My brushstrokes on canvas—often in the versatile medium of acrylic—seek to capture and evoke powerful emotions and nuanced feelings, inviting viewers into a contemplative dialogue with the artwork. My appreciation for both Surrealism and Realism influences my style, allowing me to explore the boundaries between dream and reality. Each piece I create is an invitation for observers to experience a profound connection, to find beauty and resonance within the layers of color and form. This fusion of personal insight and professional dedication crafts a unique visual language that speaks to the heart as much as it does to the eye, aspiring to elevate the spirits of those who encounter my work. In my artistic pursuit, I aspire to move beyond mere visual appeal to touch the core of your emotions. Each creation is crafted with the hope of stirring profound feelings within you, inviting you to forge a deep and personal connection with the work. My goal is to ensure that every piece resonates uniquely, becoming a reflective mirror of your own experiences and emotions. Through this intimate interaction, art becomes not just a viewing experience, but a journey of emotional discovery and connection. Thank you for engaging with my vision and allowing my art to resonate within you. From an early age, her passion for painting was central to her life. Despite this, she trained as a hairdresser in St. Pölten, and the dream of attending art school became a distant prospect. At the age of 25, she was diagnosed with depression, which coincided with a period of intense artistic activity. In 2003 and 2004, Marlene Haas organized her first self-curated exhibitions in the cellar vaults of Schallaburg. The response to these exhibitions encouraged her to give more space to art in her life. As a self-taught artist, she experiments across a broad spectrum of painting styles, from watercolor and mixed techniques to portrait painting. Eventually, she developed her own technique known as BetonArt, which represents the greatest expression of her artistic originality. Personal Statement My passion lies in the freedom to experiment with various materials and techniques on canvas. I select colors and structures that define my artworks and impart the expression I aim to achieve. My goal is to engage the viewer's eye and introduce a perspective that is not inherently obvious. In art, it is often demonstrated that nothing is as it seems. My pronounced curiosity in experimenting with techniques has been the best way to evolve, especially since I did not have a mentor to guide me into this field. As a self-taught artist, I enjoy an even greater artistic liberty and am minimally influenced by conventional standards, which allows me to express my unique individuality more freely. I will continue to expand and develop my works along these lines. Under these circumstances, my BetonARt – artworks on canvas were created, an idea that continually inspires new creations. Discover Limited Edition The Early Renaissance was the first phase of the Renaissance and is dated roughly from 1420 to 1500. It first began in Italy in the early 15th century and showed related phenomena in the rest of Europe, e.g. in Old Netherlandish painting. In Italy, we speak of the Quattrocento. The Early Renaissance was followed by the High Renaissance. The Early Renaissance followed the Gothic period and draws its inspiration from various sources. The beginnings of Renaissance thought and feeling are closely connected with Renaissance humanism and can be traced back to Petrarch and Boccaccio. An essential criterion was the orientation of art on the model of nature. An essential means to this end was central perspective in painting, for which mathematical laws were formulated for the first time, and the revival of ancient art. The Christian symbolism of the Gothic period still largely determined the purpose and character of the works, but since the invention of central perspective by Filippo Brunelleschi and Leon Battista Alberti, the closeness to reality now also gained decisive importance for many paintings.
