Brief Biography & Artistic Journey

Mehlika Tanriverdi is a German-Turkish mixed-media artist based in Tübingen, Germany.

She has been exhibiting since 2010.

She holds a Magistra Artium in English Studies, American Studies and Empirical Cultural

Studies. Before her artistic career took shape, she travelled alone through Asia, Australia

and South America for over a year. Everything she had gathered on her way — the stories,

the faces, the moments — found their way out not as words, but as paintings. Her first

exhibition followed in 2010. She has been painting ever since.

Since 2014 she has been a member of GEDOK (Gemeinschaft Deutscher und

Österreichischer Künstlerinnen), one of the oldest and most established associations for

women artists in the German-speaking world. She exhibits with GEDOK annually.

Her work has been shown across Germany and internationally — including four group

exhibitions in Turkey in 2023: at the Güray Museum in Cappadocia, the Lebriz Gallery in

Istanbul, the Cultural Centre Bodrum and the Match Art Gallery in Izmir. Her work Aurora

Musis Amica (2022) was created for the GEDOK annual exhibition Kloster: Bebenhausen

inspiriert, in direct response to one of Baden-Württemberg's most significant historic

spaces.

Her Turkish roots run through her work — in the visual tension between cultures, in the

warmth of colour, in the quality of meeting that her figurative paintings invite.

For over fifteen years, Tanriverdi has also worked as a consciousness mentor — teaching

people to shift and use energy, to be fully present, and to receive more of what life offers.

This practice flows directly into every piece she creates: the quality of ease, of connection,

of joy, of deep aliveness. Not as theme. As living presence within the work.

Her pieces are created on wood using pyrography, pigments, pressed botanical elements

and epoxy resin. Each work is a unique original, sealed in resin, built to last. Originals

range from €2,500 to €30,000.

Our platform provides carefully curated access to artworks selected by art experts, guaranteeing a selection of the highest quality.

Our Mission and Actions

At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.

By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.

Artistic Statement

My paintings are not decoration. They are portals.

Each work carries a specific energetic quality — ease, joy, expansion, connection, possibility. I don’t paint what I see. I paint what I want the viewer to remember: that ease is available at any moment. That creativity is not a talent, but the willingness to play. That what you are looking for is already inside you.

I capture moments. Not the moment as it was, but the feeling underneath it. The quality alive in the air, in the bodies, in the space between people. I photograph. I observe. I ask strangers on the street if I may take their picture. And then I take that feeling onto wood, into fire, into resin — and I give it back as a reminder.

My process has no single form. Sometimes an image arrives while I am teaching a course on joy — whole, before a single line is painted. I find a model, recreate the pose, and follow the feeling I already know is there. Sometimes I am simply in the right place at the right time: witness to an embrace, a gesture, a state of being. I photograph it and carry it home.

Sometimes I am moved by another artist’s work — or by something that is not art at all. I take figures from their original context and translate them into my own visual language.

You Are All I Need began when I saw two women walking down a street in traditional Japanese garments, photographing each other. The beauty of them — the ease, the joy — compelled me to stop and speak to them. That impulse became a painting: two figures beneath a golden moon, not longing, but arriving.

If I Could began with a friend and her daughter in a Parisian café. In the painting, the daughter holds her mother from behind. I always say: it is something very particular, what a child gives a mother in that gesture. Hey. It’s all okay. I’ve got you. It mirrors the universe: I’ve got you.

Spheres of Creation came from a friend who stood as a nude model for me in the middle of a consciousness course — in the jungle in Costa Rica. The Bougainvillea I had gathered and dried in Portugal. The ginkgo leaves sprayed at the base speak of wisdom. The Bougainvillea blossoms, embedded with mirror fragments, stand for all the choices available to us — because every ten seconds, you can choose again. You can create something new.

People stop in front of my works and sometimes cry — not because the art is sad, but because it reminds them of something they already know. That is what I am after: recognition, not instruction. A moment of return.

I am a German artist with Turkish roots. My work lives at the intersection of Orient and Occident, of the seen and the felt, of art and awareness. For over fifteen years, I have worked with people on shifting energy and accessing presence — and the two practices are inseparable. What I teach, I paint. What I paint, I live.

You are not alone. You are connected. You are held.

It can be easy. You may shine. Reach for what you dream. Choose again.

Creation is not something you do. It is something you remember how to be.
