Toni Nohe – Exploring Colors for Happy Places

Born in La Paz, Bolivia, and educated in Europe, Toni Nohe embodies a unique artistic dialogue between cultural memory and contemporary abstraction. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, where she became a master student, and further expanded her artistic research through a scholarship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland.

Her works have been shown in international exhibitions and are part of private and public collections across Europe, the USA, and South America.

Artistic Language

Rooted in the rich visual heritage of the Andes, Toni Nohe’s paintings are inspired by the textiles, fabrics, and color traditions of her South American homeland. The Aymara and Quechua weaving practices, passed on from mothers to daughters over generations, form a spiritual foundation of her art. Each line, color, and pattern echoes stories of tradition, resilience, and a deep connection to nature.

Her artistic credo, “Exploring Colors for Happy Places,” reflects her commitment to creating atmospheres of lightness and joy. Through abstraction, she liberates color from convention and invites the viewer into spaces of visual harmony.

Our Mission and Actions

At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.

By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.

Style & Impact

Toni Nohe’s abstract compositions can be understood as a microcosmic view of ancient textiles reimagined on canvas. The interplay of structure and spontaneity results in a symbiosis between ancestral knowledge and modern painting. Her lines and forms, while referencing woven threads, unfold into contemporary gestures that radiate optimism.

For Toni Nohe, painting is not only a practice of artistic expression but also a meditation – a search for balance, intuition, and freedom. Her canvases open a dialogue where colors act as carriers of energy, inviting viewers to step into an uplifting, immersive experience.
