Brief Biography & Artistic Journey

Tatiana Urban (born 1970) is an artist of Austrian origin who lives and works in Frankfurt am Main and on the Hessian Bergstrasse in Germany. After studying Economics at the University of Mannheim, she went on to study Fine Art at the Offenbach University of Art and Design, where she graduated with a diploma under Professor Adam Jankowski.

At the core of her painting lies the interplay between the depiction of nature and abstraction. Working primarily with acrylic and ink on canvas, she creates multilayered pictorial spaces in which vegetal forms, fragile idylls, and artificial structures merge into a distinctive and instantly recognizable visual language.

Tatiana Urban’s work is particularly compelling for today’s contemporary art discourse because it combines a high degree of visual identity with conceptual depth and a highly contemporary painterly position. Her paintings are at once organic, precise, and atmospherically dense, engaging the viewer on both visual and intellectual levels.

As co-founder of the Frankfurt exhibition collective BLOOM and the female painters’ network *FRANK e.V.**, she is actively embedded in the contemporary art scene. Her work has been presented in numerous exhibitions in Germany and internationally. Grants and distinctions from the Hessische Kulturstiftung and the Hessian Ministry for Science, Research, Arts and Culture further underline the relevance of her artistic position.

Tatiana Urban stands for continuity, independence, and a highly distinctive painterly voice — qualities that make her work especially attractive from a curatorial as well as a collector’s perspective.

Our platform provides carefully curated access to artworks selected by art experts, guaranteeing a selection of the highest quality.

Our Mission and Actions

At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.

By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.

Artist Statement

My works, created predominantly in acrylic and/or ink on canvas, depict fragile idylls as worlds that are both disintegrating and coming into being. Lush, at times fragmentary vegetal scenes merge with graphic abstraction and artifice-like forms to create compositions that reflect an anthropocentric relationship between humanity and nature.

Nature has become a field of human experimentation, yet it continues to confront us persistently with its own unruly force. Curious plant communities seem to adapt to artifacts, managing to set beauty against human devastation. In my painting, I seek to capture this struggle, this mysterious energy, this seemingly inexhaustible vitality, as well as the delicate and fragile side of nature.

In this way, suspended and dynamic pictorial worlds emerge, in which once-recognizable natural forms dissolve into abstraction, only to come into being again as a fantastical new biotope.
