Short Biography and Artistic Journey

In ‘Les Miserables’, there are a variety of human figures. All mankind and their lives were reflected in my eyes. Glint! All sorts of stories become a circle. It becomes transparent. I paint to form the eternity from a momentary Life-like water that will soon disappear. It will be stimulating, seductive, and captivating effect. There are so many thirsts we can't have in our life. But I can't stand without any hope. I had to listen to the inner voice regularly. Just as long for another beautiful life, it gives a chance for the charm of luck.
I was born in Busan, Korea. My paintings have been exhibited in group and solo shows around the world since 2007, including at Gang kuk Samsung Hospital, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and Tom&toms Gallery in Seoul. I was an International Fellowship resident artist at the Vermont Studio Center, USA. I currently reside and works in Seoul, South Korea.

Our Mission and Actions

At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.

By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.

Personal Statement, Visions and Goals

My next project will focus on Korea’s tumultuous history involving war in the twentieth century and rewrite that history in a new way. During that time, the great powers of the world battled for control of the Korean peninsula, leading to significant pain and bloodshed for all those involved. In the end, Korea was divided into two separate countries, the north and the south. In the present, citizens of South Korea have tried to forget that painful past, striving for capitalistic success. It is difficult to see traces of war in Korea, but it still exists in the subconscious of the Korean people and manifested in the lack of responsibility and helplessness exhibited by many. I will be creating artwork that looks anew at Korea’s forgotten history. It will open a new world perspective from the past to the future. I hope to find answers through this painting project. ‘Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?’
