Brief Bio | Artistic Journey
Polina Maykova, a painter and draughtswoman living in Germany, has exhibited her works not only in Germany, but also in Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands. She inherited her artistic roots from her Russian family of artists. As a child, she was allowed to watch her mother teach art students.
She was already deeply fascinated by painting as a child. She initially studied at the Moscow Art Academy and continued her studies privately. In her youth, Maykova emigrated to Germany with her family. At first, the German art scene was unfamiliar to the artist, but after a while Maykova was inspired by design. For a long time, she only created her art for herself, but after the birth of her child, she dared to exhibit her paintings - a step that led to her success. Today, she is an up-and-coming artist who sells her work worldwide.
In her compositions, Maykova explores each person's different and contradictory perception and interpretation of the world. Her distinctive pieces are imbued with symbolic objects. She most often creates with acrylic paint on canvas. Her favorite genre is still life.

Our Mission and Actions
At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.
By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.
Personal Statement
Polina Maykova about her art:
“I look at this world through simple still lifes that have a deeper meaning for me. It would be great if I could mesmerize my viewers for a moment and make them think about the outer and inner life.
Still lifes are a wonderful way to explore the world and reveal its hidden layers. There is often more to the apparent simplicity of an apple on a table or a single flower than we realize at first glance. These everyday objects can offer us deep insights into human existence and nature.
Life itself is a still life, a complex arrangement of moments, thoughts, emotions and experiences. Each of us has our own inner still life, made up of memories, dreams, hopes and fears. If we take the time to stop and think about it, we can discover the beauty and meaning in the small details.
Perhaps it is the play of light and shadow on an old cup that makes us think. Or the scent of a fresh flower that reminds us of the romance of life. In these moments, we can connect with the world and realize that we are part of a greater whole.”
