Brief Biography & Artistic Journey

Renate Amon, a painter from the Waldviertel region, was born in 1975 and grew up with six siblings on a rural, Christian family farm. She enjoyed a carefree childhood immersed in nature, and by age fourteen, she was eager to pursue artistic activities.

As a young mother of two, the trained interior designer and decorator always felt compelled to follow her creative calling, despite limited time and resources.

Fascinated by the work of Austrian artist Franz Grabmayr—and encouraged by personal conversations with him—she found the courage to exhibit her own pieces. Her breakthrough came in 2004 with her first solo show in Zwettl, which set the stage for the successful artistic path she has continued to develop.

Inspired by both nature and theology, Renate’s works reflect the wonder of creation and her aspiration to express human uniqueness. She often incorporates native woods, metal, rusted elements, and marble‑dust pigments, framing them with layers of acrylic paint.

“The change of techniques and image‑making strategies from series to series is important to me, as it reflects my lively, experimental, and open‑hearted spirit,” says Renate Amon, who lives and works at Schloss Rosenau.

Our Mission and Actions

At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.

By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.

Personal Statement

Inspiration

“The source of the spirit is love, as the connection of all‑encompassing life.”

Edition: Power of Love

This series explores the unique talents each of us brings to the world—and the great theme of faith. What do I believe in? I believe in love—the one thing that remains. Hence the personal message drawn from the “Song of Love” (1 Corinthians 13). My “Power of Love” works are my contribution to leading people into joy and, above all, into love.

Materials and symbolism:

Gold: Reflects greatness, purity, dignity, and the divine spirit.

Rock crystal: Connects us to Earth’s source and matter, bringing clarity and order.

Yew wood (Taxus baccata): The “Tree of Resurrection.” Its tree rings reveal the years of life, symbolizing deep rooting in the Earth and growth toward the light—the source of life.

Edition: Wood Paintings

Shifting techniques and image‑making strategies from series to series is a fundamental need for me—it reflects my lively, experimental, and open‑hearted nature. These variations share a common origin, yet each remains visibly distinct.

Technique and inspiration:

In my “Wood Paintings – Impressions of the Waldviertel” series, I address both nature’s creation and the human drive to be unique. All the leaves on a tree come from the same tree; if you stack them, each is different and yet they are all alike—each one unique. God’s power is wonderfully expressed both in humanity and in nature.

I explore natural processes such as corrosion (through rust), weathering, and the beauty of impermanence revealed in the wood’s life traces. My fascination lies in conveying moments that are both fleeting and yet hold us fast.

Edition: Nature & Origin

Nature: The key to my inspiration!

Origin: A new beginning—the birth of being! The very source from which all creation flows!

Through ongoing exchange—spirit, reflection, thought, and understanding—we trace the beginning, heritage, and origin of all‑encompassing life: Nature → Animals → Spirit → Human → Matter → the five elements (Wood, Fire, Metal, Water, Earth).

To simply be human—translating love and the pursuit of wisdom into images—is the essence of creative freedom.
