New Figuration is a collective term for figurative painting after the Second World War. It is named after the book of the same name by the painter and critic Hans Platschek. It emerged as a departure from the abstract approach of the Informel.

In the USA Richard Lindner and in Germany HAP Grieshaber and his students at the Karlsruhe Art Academy: Horst Antes, Dieter Krieg and Heinz Schanz belong to the New Figuration; among the sculptors Wilhelm Loth is to be mentioned.
In Austria, Franz Ringel and Peter Pongratz can be mentioned among others. In the Netherlands and Belgium, Reinier Lucassen and Roger Raveel belong to this style ("nieuwe figuratie").
