Our Mission and Actions

At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.

By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.

Artist Statement

“I am interested in the human being as an individual - detached from the protective anonymity of the crowd, alone with the self and the search for identity.”

The human figure, and especially the portrait, lies at the centre of Alžběta Müller’s artistic practice. Her work focuses on the individual beyond the protective anonymity of the crowd: a person alone with the self, with memory, vulnerability and the search for identity.

Rather than pursuing portraiture as a purely realistic description of outward appearance, Müller is interested in the inner presence of her sitters. Facial expression, silence, charisma and psychological tension become essential pictorial elements through which thoughts, emotions and personal histories begin to emerge.

Her paintings are shaped by quiet, reflective and introverted moments. The portrayed figures often appear absorbed in themselves, suspended between openness and withdrawal. Their gazes do not simply address the viewer; they suggest interior worlds that remain only partially accessible.

Müller’s figurative language combines close observation with painterly interpretation. The visible features of a person provide the starting point, but the work ultimately seeks the emotional reality behind the face - the traces of experience, uncertainty, strength and individuality that resist simple representation.

Through this concentration on human presence, Müller creates portraits that are both intimate and universal. Her work invites viewers to slow down, to look beyond surface resemblance and to encounter the human being as a complex, autonomous individual.
