Biography
Theodora Dea is an Oslo-based artist who studied visual art at the Nordic Institute of Stage and Studio (NISS) in the late 2000s. Dea utilizes a mixed-media technique involving alcohol ink and resin to create both organic and geometric shapes. She incorporates 24K gold and shimmer to enhance the 3D effects of the various media layers and to play with light. Her artworks feature a shiny, reflective surface akin to glass but are much stronger, achieved by mixing two-component epoxy resin and applying fire to smooth it out. The intricate details are so numerous that even a camera may struggle to capture them all. This technique also renders the art waterproof and sustainable. As a diver passionate about ocean conservation, Dea has made it her trademark to photograph and present her fine art underwater, hence her slogan, "the Aquartistic Art of an Aquarian."
An activist and environmentalist, Theodora Dea is committed to donating 15% of her art sales to organizations dedicated to preserving the oceans and their inhabitants. Her production processes focus on sustainability, using leftover construction materials for canvases and recycling all plastic from material purchases. Her works are crafted to endure for centuries, featuring UV protection and robust, waterproof industrial materials as a base.
In 2022/23, Dea served as the director of Female Artists Oslo AS, helping to build a community for women and non-gender conforming individuals alongside founder Paulina Ree.

Our Mission and Actions
At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.
By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.
Artist Statement
I believe everything and nothing has meaning — it's a choice. To me, all art is meaningful. You pour your energy and vibrations into your creations, reflecting the state of the world and your personal experiences at that precise moment. It's akin to capturing a "photograph" of your state of being at a specific time. My goal is to host an underwater fine art exhibition in the near future, allowing people to experience my art in its element. I aim to reveal the beauty and magic of the world, despite the chaos we often face.
"To be sane in a world of madmen is in itself madness." — Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
